The Current
The Current was a project for a school where I did the brand design for a fictional aquarium located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This aquarium was more focused on local sea life rather than fish in the ocean. I had a lot of fun playing around with the colors and inspiration I gathered from my research around the area.
The Process:
During the sketching phase I had the idea of Incorperating aspects of the yellow perch into the logo since that was lake Michigan's most common fish and this aquarium wanted to highlight local aquatic life.
Here is my first pass of the logo. I was very attatched to the idea of using a yellow perch fin for the logo with arrows representing the current maps but it was too generic and didn't give the impression of a aquarium.
This was the last logo change before the final. While the logo was more natural it looked a little too rough and needed to strike that balance between rough and artificial. The text was better but needed some kerning and the gradient needed the green to look a little more natural looking.

Here's some deliverables from the end of this project.
